Thoughts & Notes and Feelings about Anna …

in the mid eighties I met Anna at the nos design department
during her internship
where she was befriending my best friend

remembering Anna is painful, just in one word

tearfull eyes full of pleasure

she did it the hard way in a foreign country
to start from the beginning concerning the outsiders gaze
but she was living her life* and growing mentally and professionally
and maybe in the first place balancing her heimat
in a continuous experience

*which lasted far too short

Kochana Haniu,

We have not had an usual sister-relationship and not an easy one, either. You were rather serious and rational, me, rather impatient and impulsive – but both loving life, art, and sharing the same sense of humor.

I wish I was older or you were younger – so that the roles were not that “set”. When I think about the best moments together then I see those summer evenings in Rotterdam of the ’90s, us sitting together on the rooftop-terrace of your apartment in the Nijverheidstraat, overlooking the water. The future seemed endless and open for all the plans – yours and mine.

Ania – w naszym licealnym życiu, 1976-1980, była zjawiskowa – kolorowa, uśmiechnięta ekscentryczka – stroje barwne, talent, lotny umysł, śmiałe zachowanie. Nikt nie miał wątpliwości – ARTYSTKA! Wiedziała czego chce. Wybiegła z liceum daleko – zachłanna na sztukę i życie. Nasza przyjaźń trwała 39 lat. To wyróżnienie.

Anię poznałam na studiach. Śliczna, bardzo zdolna, szalona, pełna pasji, temperamentu i marzeń. Nie uznawała półśrodków i przeciętności, żyła na 200%, śmiała się gdy marudziłam, że w życiu nie można mieć wszystkiego: „ja będę miała WSZYSTKO”. I tak było. Jej nieobecność to dojmujący brak w moim życiu.

Agata Chmielewska, friend

Ania najwyższa moja koleżanka w klasie i najbardziej “oczytana”. Zawsze zabierała głos na lekcji języka polskiego i historii.

Skąd ona to wszystko wie? – zastanawiałam się … Ania zdradziła mi kiedyś tajemnicę: mój tata, gdy pytam go o znaczenie jakiegoś słowa nie wyjaśnia mi, tylko odsyła do encyklopedii … Ania to była chodząca encyklopedia.

Prace Ani są pełne wigoru, koloru i radości życia. Promienieją energią i ciepłem. Trudno mi do dzisiaj pogodzić się z faktem, że odeszła od nas tak nagle i tak o wiele za wcześnie. Wspominam ze wzruszeniem nasze spacery po mieście, po muzeach i galeriach podczas pierwszego pobytu w Amsterdamie w roku 1985. Postać Ani i Jej piękna twórczość żyje we mnie do dziś.
